About
Mission Statement
LHSO provides musical education and performance opportunities for school-age string players in the Lincoln metro and greater southeast Nebraska area.
The LHSO was founded in the autumn semester of 2006 to offer homeschool students the opportunity to play in a string orchestra. The orchestras strive for a high standard of performance of music from the baroque era to the present day. Later in 2013 Small Ensembles were begun that offers homeschool students the opportunity to play in duet, trio, and quartet groups.
Our Code of Conduct
Remember that an orchestra is a beautiful picture of Christ's body. Each one has a part to play and every member needs every other member if we are to make beautiful music together for the Lord. Strong players should strive to be good examples to the weaker players and encourage them along wherever possible. Please help us to foster a spirit of cooperation and friendliness and minimize the spirit of competitiveness so that we please the Lord with our efforts together.
MUSICIANSHIP:
We expect all players to practice diligently and to come to rehearsals knowing their own part to the music. Section leaders share bowings and other markings with their section. Knowing the music is particularly important because we meet once a week. We need to be able to make the best use if our time and can't afford to spend it teaching players parts they should have learned and practiced at home. A record of weekly practice is recommended. Please be in tune, in place, and ready to play by the designated rehearsal time and a half hour before the concert time.
.
