Rehearsals
Fall 2024
The fall 2024 semester will have a total of 15 rehearsals on Mondays 4:30-6pm beginning with our Kick-Off August 19 at 4:00-6pm to December 2. Labor Day September 2, we do not rehearse. The Fall concert is Monday December 2, at 7:00pm. All rehearsals and concerts are at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
Chamber Music Party 2024
The two Mondays following our Fall Concert we will have a varying small ensembles rehearse 4:30-5:45 and then play a recital at 5:45-6pm at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. This is open to parents to play with their young musician and to non LHSO players.
Spring 2025
The Spring 2025 semester will have a total of 16 rehearsals on Mondays 4:30-6pm beginning January 6 to April 1521. The Spring Concert is Monday April 21 at 7:00pm. All rehearsals and concerts are at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
Concert Attire
Ladies:
Beginning, Junior and Intermediate Orchestras wear white Long sleeved top, either black trousers or a long black skirt (that falls below the knee when seated), black socks or tights, and black dress shoes.
Senior Orchestra wear black long sleeve top, either black trousers or a long black skirt (that falls below the knee when seated), black socks or tights, and dress shoes.
Gentlemen:
Beginning, Junior and Intermediate Orchestras wear long sleeve white dress shirt, black, tie, trousers, socks, and dress shoes.
Senior Orchestra wear long sleeve white dress shirt, black coat, black tie, black trousers, black socks, and black dress shoes.
Small Ensemble groups, the members may by consensus and conductor approval choose an alternate color top, always concert black on bottom.
Problems & Concerns
As with any organized activity, there may be some difficulties during the year that we need to address.
Please do us the courtesy of telling us right away if you see a problem or have a concern. It is in our best interest to seek to resolve small problems before they grow to be big ones.
Rehearsal concerns are best directed to the conductor, any other concerns are best directed to the secretary or board members.
Concerts
2024-2025
All students in the Orchestra will be expected to play in the end of semester concert. The Fall Concert is December 2 at 7pm and the Spring Concert is April 21 at 7:00pm., at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
Chamber Music Party Recitals will be the two Mondays following the Fall Concert at 5:45pm at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
Small Ensemble dates and times of their recitals are arranged. We have had groups play for Master Class at the UNL Glenn Korff School of Music, for Master Class with guest artists programed with Lincoln Friends of Chamber Music, and individual recitals.
The LHSO views concerts and recitals as not just a culmination of learning and a beginning of more growth but most of all an opportunity to share our music with others.
Location
Our rehearsals and concerts will be at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 3825 Wildbriar Lane, Lincoln, NE, 68516.
Good Shepherd Lutheran has been our most gracious host; we will respect the use of their building and space. Students are expected to clean up after themselves and help set up and take down chairs and seating.
Tuition
Sign-up/administration non refundable fee is $25 per family per year before the semester that they join either fall or spring. Fall semester fee due by August 1, or if joining in spring then due by December 1. This is an annual fee. Late fee is $50 per family per year. Monies can be sent to : LHSO Secretary 3727 S. 78th St. Lincoln, Ne. 68506.
Tuition by semester is $100 per first musician, $100 per second, $100 per third musician. The fourth or more musicians play for free. We are family friendly so if the parent plays an instrument they may play with us for free. Tuition is due at the Kick-Off and at the beginning of second semester. A limited number of need-based scholarships are available.
